*بنبلونا هي عاصمة مقاطعة منطقة نافارا ذاتية الحكم في شمال أسبانيا و يعد مهرجان بمبلونا لمصارعة الثيران من اشهر ما يميز هذه المدينة ويسمى مهرجان سان فيرمين حيث يعود إلى أكثر من أربعة قرون خلت، لكنه تحوّل إلى حدث عالمي بعدما تحدث عنه الكاتب الأمريكي المعروف، أرنست هيمنغواي في إحدى رواياته مطلع العقد الثاني من القرن الماضي ويقام هذا المهرجان على مدى ثمانية أيام متتالية، وتستمر جولة الجري أمام الثيران لمدة دقيقتين، فيما تواصل الثيران عدوها حتى تبلغ حلقة مصارعة موجودة في المدينة.

-ويتراوح وزن الثور الواحد من الثيران المشاركة في المهرجان ما بين 650 و700 كيلوغرام، علماً أن فصيلة ثيران ميورا التي تشارك في احتفالات أيام المهرجان الأخيرة تتمتع بقوة هائلة وزخم كبير، وكل صباح وعلى مدى أسبوع خلال شهر يوليو من كل عام تطلق ستة ثيران في مسار طوله 825 مترا عبر شوارع مدينة بامبلونا القديمة المكسوة بالحجارة وحتى حلبة مصارعة الثيران. بيد أن أحداث هذا المهرجان لا تحوز رضى الجميع إذ طالما شكت جماعات الدفاع عن حقوق الحيوانات والرفق بها مما تراه من قسوة و وحشية في فعالياته.
